The arts - and the National PTA Reflections program - support student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in our school community. Help our school community celebrate arts learning this year by participating in Reflections! The theme for Reflections during the 2023-2024 school year is "I Am Hopeful Because...". The deadline for submission in this year's contest has been extended to Monday, October 16th. Before your child begins working on their submission, we encourage you to discuss the different participation categories with your student and review the detailed rules for each category listed below. At Mason ES, your student will compete against their grade level peers in each category per grade. The 1st and 2nd place from each grade-level category will move on to the Area 2 Council competition. As a reminder, special education students can participate in any genre under the Special Artist Division or under the specific category.
Submitting your student's Reflections entry is quite simple. All students, regardless of grade or category, must submit the Reflections Google form. This form should be submitted per entry not per student (I.e. if student is submitting entries for Literature and Music, the form should be submitted once for the Literature entry and once for the Music entry). Students submitting entries for Literature, Dance Choreography, Film Production and Music Composition will upload their entries (PDF/MP4/MP3) via the Google form itself. Students submitting entries for Visual Arts 2D & 3D and Photography must complete the Google form in advance for their entry as well as drop off their physical artwork with a hard copy Entry Form at school. A dropbox is located at the Media Center entrance for early entries. PTA members will be present the morning of Monday, October 18th in the lobby to receive entries on the deadline date, as well.
